The Common Application is the recommended form of 277
selective colleges and universities for admission to their undergraduate
programs. These institutions meet the membership criteria and follow the
principles outlined in our Statement of Purpose. They also agree to
abide by our Statement of Principles and Practices for Members. In
addition, all members of the admission office staff sign an annual
Participation Agreement reaffirming their commitment to
the Common Application. Many of these institutions use the
form exclusively. All give equal consideration to the
Common Application and the college's own form. |

The Association of Boarding
Schools (TABS) is a voluntary membership organization for 300 boarding schools
in the United States, Canada, and abroad. The independently incorporated
non-profit organization exclusively serves the marketing and professional
development needs of college-preparatory boarding schools, and provides
information for families and other individuals about the benefits of living and
learning in a residential setting. The association provides these services
through an annual conference, a series of workshops for school administrators
and staff members, admission trips, the publication of an annual directory, and
a comprehensive website—www.schools.com. The association recently
commissioned a comparative study to determine the value-added of the boarding
school experience, the results from which are incorporated in the marketing
initiative Telling the Truth About Boarding School. |
